Cape Cod Memories
by John J. King
There is a special place that God designed,
And when He did,
He had me in mind.
When I retire, that's where I will be,
Fishing in the bay,
and sailing on the sea.
The sky is so clear,
the stars look within reach.
Light breezes clean the sky,
and make waves on the beach.
The sand dunes move when the winds decide,
Erasing your footprints
just like the tide.
From Provincetown to Chatham's heel,
From the sky,
the Cape doesn't look real.
You can see the shoals along the coast;
They trim the Cape
like a white ghost.
I would like to take you there
some Sunday morn,
And show you where America was born.
It's the most beautiful haven
created by God;
Named after a fish
, and called Cape Cod.
